“What is often lacking
in new music
becomes an event here:
Easiness
and
effortlessness,
playfulness
and
a tongue-in-cheek humour“
Neue Zeitschrift für Musik 02/2004 reviewing TARA by Markus Stockhausen

A warm welcome to our publishing house's web pages
The Aktivraum music publisher primarily publishes works by Markus Stockhausen. This artist is in demand ‘not only as an exceptionally gifted trumpeter, but also as a visionary composer’. These pages give a small insight into his innovative musical work. His musical palette ranges from commissioned work for jazz trios and orchestras, pieces for ensembles (such as the London Sinfionetta) or individual musicians. Also worth mentioning is his ‘Abendglühen’ for solo trumpet and trombone choir, which he composed for the opening night of the German Protestant Kirchentag 2007 in Cologne and performed with about 1800 brass players by the Rhine.
Extracts from his list of works can be found on the next page.
The premiere of „Tanzendes Licht” (composition by Markus Stockhausen) was performed successfully on the 20th of November 2007 by the Camerata Bern and the Swiss Jazz Orchestra at the Paul Klee Centre in Bern.
